The Sewing and Quilting Project

All expenses are paid by the members. Materials, thread, batting, sheets and any other items are used. Members have been learning to quilt for the last 4 years. They learn to mix and match colors, about the correct type of fabric to use, laying out the pattern and sewing and stitching. Many of the member have earned blue and purple awards and best of show at the fair.

Members use sewing machines and learn maintain, safely and operation. Some members sew their own clothing for school as well.

Cooking Project

Members are responsible for their own expenses. Cooking project includes learning how to write recipes, measure items, what ingredients have in them and safety in the kitchen. Members also learn to budget for shopping and prepare a meal for their families. A favorite item is entered into the fair and judged for taste and looks. The members cook and bake for food booths, and other fund raisers.

Photography Project

The photography project can be done with single use cameras, 35mm, or digital. The expenses can be high, with film development, camera purchases and materials used to mount pictures for showing in contests. This project can have 10 pages of pictures in the members record book. All other projects may only display up to 3 pages of pictures. The Photography Project is creative, fun and can lead to jobs in college at school newspapers and other such opportunities.

The Rocketry Project

The Rocketry Project is really very fun. Members do learn safety 1st, how to paint, sand and choose rockets to use in launching according to the size and weight of the rocket itself. Materials used are rockets, paint, sand paper and launchers. Members meet in the outshirts of town to have monthly blast offs. They also have rocket exchanges with Japan and other 4-H clubs in different areas. All expenses are paid by the members.
