Steer Project

Steers can be a very challenging project. There are many expenses for equipment such as blocking chutes, clippers hoof trimming and transportation. Steers are usually purchased during June, July or August. Many members keep the steer at the breeder if possible until September or October when the weather cools off. Steers require strong housing and shelters. There can be many long nd tiring hours spent breaking and haltering them as well. Members of the project need transportation for the steer to be hauled to tagging, the fair in April, and any project meeting or the veterinarian for treatments and checkups. Steers require a lot of grain and ruffage to gain properly and have the nutrients they need to grow and develop into a winning project.
